Studio One Yoga opened its doors in November 2011 with a simple but powerful vision: create a yoga studio where people feel seen, supported, and strong — in body and in life.

Dariush and Sarah didn’t set out to build something trendy. They wanted to build something lasting, real, and they wanted to do it in their own community, Stillwater, MN.

At the time, yoga was growing quickly and it was getting flashy, but they felt there was space for a studio rooted in alignment, integrity, and community. A place where beginners could walk in without feeling intimidated. A place where experienced students could deepen their practice intelligently. A place where people of all ages and backgrounds could roll out a mat and come together as a cOMmunity, regardless of anything else, just the love they had for yoga to be that connecting light.

They imagined a studio where teaching was thoughtful, anatomy mattered, philosophy was lived — not just quoted — and relationships were built over years, not months.

So they created it….behind the gray curtain.

Driven by passion, who we are today.

What began as a vision became a studio. What began as a studio became a community

our community.

Over time, Studio One Yoga has welcomed students in their tweens and students in their seventies — and every shape, gender, and life story in between. People navigating injury, stress, grief, growth, celebration, and reinvention. Some came for strength. Some for healing. Some for clarity. Many stayed because they found connection.

As our community grew, so did we. From our first location to serving students across Stillwater, Roseville, and White Bear Lake, our foundation never shifted. Alignment matters. Experience matters. Teaching with integrity matters.

But more than anything — people matter.

This community has not just supported Studio One Yoga. It has shaped it.

The conversations after class.
The courage of someone trying yoga for the first time.
The resilience of someone returning after loss.
The laughter. The tears. The milestones shared.

Studio One Yoga was never meant to be just a place to take a class.

It was meant to be a space where people practice becoming.

Becoming more aware.
More resilient. More grounded in their choices. More together. Connection is our currency.

We believe yoga is not about performance. It is about commitment. It is about learning how to listen to your body, take ownership of your reactions, and cultivate steadiness in a world that often feels chaotic.

Our teaching remains alignment-based and experience-driven. We care deeply about how and why you move — not just that you move. We care about sustainable strength, healthy aging, and building a practice that evolves with your life.

Since November 2011, that vision has remained the same.

And we are still building it — one class, one conversation, one mat at a time.

We believe yoga is not about performance. It is about connection. Connection to your body, your breath, and your life beyond the mat.

Our classes are designed to support beginners while continuing to challenge experienced students. Through alignment-based teaching, thoughtful sequencing, and experienced instructors, we help students build strength, improve mobility, and develop confidence in their practice.
Studio One Yoga is known for its supportive community and experienced teaching team. Many of our instructors have been teaching for over a decade, and several have trained directly through Studio One’s Yoga Teacher Training program. Our training programs are recognized throughout Minnesota for their depth, integrity, and focus on both personal growth and professional development.
Whether you are stepping into your first yoga class, deepening your existing practice, or exploring the path of becoming a teacher, Studio One Yoga offers a place to begin and continue your journey.
With three Minnesota locations and a wide variety of classes, workshops, and trainings, Studio One Yoga is committed to helping students feel stronger, more balanced, and more at home in themselves.
